Founder’s Spotlight: JZD

Jen & Vero of @shopJZD have been an inspiration to work with! Jen & Vero work tirelessly to build their Latina Lifestyle brand focused on building community and celebrating culture every day. For the past 3 years, AJG has helped them bring many new products to life, along with assisting in building wholesale partnerships with multiple name-brand retailers. We asked Jen some questions about being the founder of her own business.

Visit their website at ShopJZD, or follow them on instagram to see behind-the-scenes updates.

What inspired you to start your business?

JZD is a Texas-based lifestyle brand with a mission to empower the Latinx community through apparel and accessories that make you feel proud of our culture. JZD began because we wanted to create something that made us, as Latinas, feel understood and represented. We wanted to create a brand that made our Latinx community feel loved and supported.

What challenges have you overcome along the way?

JZD is a Latina empowerment brand that focuses on creating products that build community and celebrate our culture. With that being said, our business is what some call "a niche business." From day one, the biggest challenge has been getting people in the business world to see the power of our customers. We always get comments like, "You should be targeting everyone," or "Your business is too niche," but our business has been growing consistently and we have surrounded ourselves with a beautiful team that is as passionate and driven as us. Our community is powerful and so supportive, and together we are building a brand that represents us.

Do you have any advice for others looking to start their own business?

¿Si no es ahora, cuando? If you have a dream, go after it full force. You may not have all the answers when you launch, but entrepreneurship is an ongoing journey where you learn as you go. However, we’ve learned that hard, consistent work pays off. Eventually, the opportunities will present themselves, and you’ll want to be ready for them.
