Founder’s Spotlight: Shower Chique

Torsha came to us with a vision of product that would contribute to the well-being of hair, body, and self-esteem. She wanted to allow women to to feel comfortable in a shower cap designed to keep hair and lashes protected in rain, shower, or bath. What inspired you to start your business? 

My desire to empower the beauty of women through inspirational, creative, and solution-oriented products. As a woman who is a wife, mother, and community leader, I know all too well that life can wreak havoc on our mental and emotional well-being, so my desire is to create purposeful products to help women conquer their day and feel beautiful while doing it. 

What challenges have you overcome along the way? 

The greatest obstacle I overcame in partnering with AJG was having a competent team working with me every step of the way. In moments of doubt and uncertainty, I had someone to bounce my ideas off of and provide unbiased, positive feedback. I was confident the team thoughtfully strategized and provided timely solutions to help move my project forward. When you’re not as knowledgeable about the design process and manufacturing business, finding trusted partners who care about you and your project is an answered prayer.

Do you have any advice for others looking to start their own business?

Don’t waste time and money trying to do it all on your own. Partner with a company who has the experience and expertise to assist you on your journey to becoming a start-up. There’s so much to think about and do. When you have a team that has good reviews, stands on their reputation and provides proven systems to help you, it eliminates the guesswork and relieves you of a lot of the hard-work.
